Once an Addict - Prison Project
Did you know that there are approximately 94,000 prisoners in the United Kingdom alone, the majority of which are behind bars for drug related crimes? This has created a great opportunity for Proclaim Trust to be able to reach out to this group, with the aid of Barry's Autobiography. By the start of 2010 we have raised funds to send out 28,000 copies. As you will appreciate, this is an ongoing project and we're asking you to consider partnering with us on this exciting initiative so that we can send out the remaining 66,000 books.
As the funds come in, we then send the books out to one Prison at a time. Outlined below are examples of the number of inmates, in selected UK Prisons:
- Featherstone - 615 men
- Middlesex - 450 women
- Hull - 1,052 men
- Kingston - 195 men
- Surrey - 347 women
- Warrington - 162 men
- Swansea - 428 men
