Prison Project

Did you know that there are approximately 94,000 prisoners in the United Kingdom alone, the majority of which are behind bars for drug related crimes?
This creates a unique opportunity for Proclaim Trust to be able to bring the message of hope to this particular people group, with the aid of Barry's autobiography.
Our aim is to send a copy of Once an Addict to every prisoner in the UK, free of charge.
Since the Prison Project began in June 2007, we have raised funds to send out 30,000 copies so far. As you will appreciate, this is an ongoing project, and we're asking you to consider partnering with us on this exciting initiative so that we can send out the remaining 64,000 books.
For £1.80p we can get a copy of Barry's book into the hands of one prisoner. For every £180 we receive, we can place it into the hands of 100 prisoners, etc.
As the funds come in, we then send the books out to one prison at a time. Outlined below are examples of the number of inmates, in selected UK prisons:
- Featherstone - 615 men
- Middlesex - 450 women
- Hull - 1,052 men
- Kingston - 195 men
- Surrey - 347 women
- Warrington - 162 men
- Swansea - 428 men
If you or your church/organization would like to partner with us on the Prison Project then please telephone the office to gain further information on the 'bulk cost' of the books, when bought for this initiative.
