The Final Cut

One of the things that I like to do when I'm not working is watch movies. Some time ago, I watched a film called 'the Final Cut', starring Robin Williams (Not recommended if you have a weak stomach!). The story focuses on a society where people are implanted with a microchip that records their life as soon as they are born. When they later die, the microchip is removed.

Robin Williams plays the part of a 'cutter'. His job is to remove the microchip, insert it into a device and then watch that persons' life play out on a big screen. As you can imagine, watching the lives of even the most innocent individuals on a large screen can be quite unbearable. After watching the film play on the screen, his job as a cutter is to edit the film and remove all of the bad parts to create the final cut. The film is then played at the person's funeral for all to see, and that person is portrayed as perfect.

Let's imagine that you are currently sitting in front of a large cinema screen. The reel starts to turn and then your life is played back in front of you on the screen. Scary, isn't it? I'm sure there would be some undesirable content at certain times. In my case, it would be a bit like watching a horror film!

The bottom line is that nobody is perfect. We all have faults, flaws and failures in our lives. However, the good news is that when we turn to God and ask him for forgiveness for whatever it is in our lives that we know isn't right, he acts as a cutter and edits the bad parts from the film, then when God looks at the screen, he only sees the good parts. He sees and creates the final cut!

God says in the Bible: 'I will forgive their sins and remember them no more.'
